COMING SOON TO KOA
WHAT IS TE KĀKANO?
Te Kākano is KOA Mama's pregnancy and postpartum training programme, created and led by Coach Kristy in collaboration with KOA, to help māmā continue training through pregnancy and return to movement after pēpi.
This isn't about what you have to stop doing. It's about understanding how to adapt your training for the season you're in, with quality coaching and a community around you.
Whether you're already training or looking for somewhere to begin, we'll meet you where you're at.
HAPŪ | PREGNANCY
For māmā who want to continue moving and training through pregnancy. Sessions are adapted as your body and needs change, helping you maintain strength and fitness while training appropriately for the stage you're in.
WHO IS TE KĀKANO FOR?
POSTPARTUM
For māmā returning to movement and training after pēpi. We'll progressively rebuild strength and capacity, giving you the foundations to work towards the training and activities you love.
You don't need to be a KOA member or have previous training experience to join Te Kākano.

Meet your Coach Kristy
A māmā herself, Kristy is passionate about helping women feel strong and confident in their bodies through pregnancy, postpartum and beyond.
With over 13 years in the fitness industry, Kristy holds Personal Training, Mat and Reformer Pilates qualifications and is a fully qualified Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism (P&PA) Coach.
Currently navigating training through pregnancy herself, Kristy understands first-hand how much changes during this season of life. Her approach isn't about what māmā have to stop doing, it's about helping them understand their changing bodies, adapt their training and continue doing the things that make them feel strong.
Her approach reflects the kaupapa of KOA, manaakitanga, māia, manawanui and kotahitanga, creating a space where māmā are supported, challenged and connected.
Most importantly, it's a space where māmā don't have to put themselves last. They can move, learn, connect and build strength for themselves, while being supported through one of the biggest transitions in their lives.
“I love helping people feel strong in their bodies, especially mums.”
